The Alchemists

The Alchemists believe in cultivating a connection to the elements. A cat, when born or joining, begins with only one of the two parts of their name. This part is usually based on a surface impression of the cat in question, generally based from coloration and/or markings, always having to due with the natural elements in some way. As a cat cultivates their connection to the natural world, they find the first half of their name, which tends to be more personal. Despite (or perhaps because of) this, most of the Alchemists are referred to by the second half of their name, even among fellow Alchemists. It is taboo to share the first half of your name or hint at even having another name to one outside of the Alchemists. A few cats have untraditional names, but they are the odd ones out.

The Guardians are those that have found their names and remain in good health. They make decisions as a group, a true council of equals. A guardian is often individually assigned to a one to three Seekers, in order to guide them.
The Seekers are those that search for the first half of their name. They tend to be grown kits or recruited individuals. They exist alongside Guardians, but are not allowed a voice yet in decisions as they have not found themselves.
The Young are the kits that are born or adopted into the Alchemists.
The Ancients are older cats that no longer leave the territory to expand their connection to the elements found further afield. They tend to be viewed as wise. They are viewed as those that are most aware of the past. In addition, they are the ones that commune most frequently with spirits of the dead that linger on this plans.
