The Riverbed Colony believes all the world to be cyclical in nature, including all life and even the afterlife. They live near a river where salmon run bountifully in the autumn, and it is during this time that wandering spirits from the Colony that have not yet passed on return to celebrate the blessings of nature. Traditionally a festival is also held where they rest, feast, and share the wisdom they obtained on their journey. Salmon are seen as a representation of the world in the Colony and are their main source of food in the autumn and winter.
In the spring, another festival occurs to wish the spirits of the Colony well as they depart again to travel. Once they depart, no matter where they go, they will always be able to find their way home, though typically they stay abroad for the entire spring and summer.
It is said that the founders of the Riverbed Colony, starving by the sea, followed the salmon run upriver to the bed where they would spawn, and this is where they made their home. Because of this history, they are very welcome to outsiders, as their ancestors too were once wanderers looking for a new home.
