Birch came out on top during a scrap with a neighboring clowder. They've pinned a cat to the ground, and the enemies leader is calling for retreat.

Birch's eyes narrowed in amusement as she examined her pinned apponent. As the sounds of the opposing clowder began to fade, the stranger froze. Their trembling  gaze met Birch's vicious expression. Fortunately for this cat, it was not in Birch's nature to murder in cold blood. 

"You should thank me. Really. If you had fought another... perhaps you'd be meeting your ancestors today?" Birch exclaimed mockingly before letting her foe scramble away.

The enemy isn't so sure that this is mercy so much as it is pity and mockery. Ears back and lips curled into a baleful grimace, they offer not so much as a hiss in response to Birch's words before scrambling off to meet their retreating clowder.
